Hi All: I'd thought to pass on the results of my brake and taillight plight.
I think the brake problem was indeed caused by the caliper pins binding. I cleaned them up and coated them with high temp. anti-seize. The taillight turned out to be the lamp fixture itself. I removed the tail cone, and was able to repair the Grimes fixture. I cleaned it up, resoldered the reflector to the socket assembly, resoldered the wire on (someone in the past had already soldered on the rear of the contact assembly) and reassembled the tail cone. Well time to test fly it. %^#%^%# The Dzus fastener spring on the front fastener on my cowling broke!!!! Where in the *^&*% do I get one on a Sunday. I really don't think subjecting my cowl to 110MPH when it's flapping in the breeze is conducive to longevity. I'll try Monday IF the WX permits, and IF I can find the proper Dzus spring locally. (I know I could have tested the brakes by a taxi test, but that's no fun) Thanks one and all for the useful suggestions. Cheers: Paul N2409H
