Steve,

Continentals are known for normal high oil consumption.
Please purchase an engine manual to check, but I believe as
high as one quart per two hours is acceptable. Check on your
actual oil level - because another characteristic is that if
you fill to the limit, the first quart or two burns off very
fast, then slows down. I keep 3 1/2 to 4 quarts and get very
low consumption (or breather overflow). I had this same
experience with my former aircraft that had a larger
Continental.
