Who has had a major on Cont. 85 in last year? How much for complete job?

Haven't finished mine yet. Parts, inspections,
balancing crank, new cam, new pistons and rods,
new jugs, (I think that the case was all that
I kept and it cost $495 to have it inspected
and repaired). Crank was bad, but had another
in the hanger, but had to have it ground. Total
cost thus far is right at $4,000.

You could buy a entire Subaru for about
that price (just joking).

Cranks and cams are getting hard to come by.
So finding replacements if you need them may
be at a preimum.

My pistons are not weighting out correct,
one light, one heavy and two in between.
So I've got to rebalance them.

Got the complete jugs, just need to bolt on.
Values and spring where in place.

If you got good parts, jugs and such, rings and
bearings will be about $1,000. Labor may double that.
Of course I'm doing it my self, so I an't paying
for labor. Taking the engine off and reinstalling
will take as long or longer than the rebuild.
