Car Wax on Imron Ercoupe?

Hi, I got my coupe ferried home finally on Sunday.  My dad and his friend, a "DuPont man" immediately went into a frenzy because I guess they have never seen that much Imron in need of a good polish in their whole lives.  I was just wondering if anybody knows if it is okay to use regular wax on this stuff on an Ercoupe.  He surprised me for my birthday by buying me two big bottles and a tub of some stuff, (apparently expensive, wish he'd have asked first) and they are planning to take some kind of industrial buffer to it.  I didn't say anything but I am not sure I should let them rub this stuff all over my plane - 3M Imperial Compound, 3M Polishing Pad Glaze, and some Maguiars stuff.  Any thoughts or experience with this?  Thanks, Glen
