If you are only three inches low, you probably aren't seeing much
degradation in
your crosswind performance. It would be nice to tweak it to be correct
when
convenient.  If you were more than five inches low, I'd recommend more
urgency
to the fix.

You can do almost anything as long as you can get an FAA inspector to sign
off
on the Form 337.

In this case, shimming back to the factory designed configuration is
NECESSARY
for flight safety.  If you base your 337 on the ones that have been
successful
for the rest of us, I doubt you'll have significant problems.

It might be a good idea to staff the 337 through your FAA "engineer"
before you
do the work.
