Artie, when we flew back from the Prescott, AZ Nationals in 1993 we landed in Albuquerque, then flew northeast to Dalhart, TX, over the Pecos River Valley for part of the way. We could see the lights of Santa Fe in the distance (we left Albuquerque about 4:30 am) and also the south end of the Sangre De Cristos mountain range. All you have to do is fly around the south end of the mountain range and then a little northwest into Santa Fe. I've never been to Taos, but it looks like you could fly from Santa Fe up the Rio Grande Valley right into Taos.
