Harry,

At its first annual under my ownership, my Alon had some
mild corrosion and some "junk" in the fuel pump bowl (and
has a gascolator). The plane sat outdoors little-used with a
previous owner and may have accumulated a bit of water
condensed on the dome of the pump. Of course, it's also
possible it never got inspected because the safety wire was
attached to one of the rear screws where you would have had
to remove the nose bowl to re-tie the wire.

At any rate, a gascolator doesn't completely solve the
problem. Inspection is still required.

As you say, fly safe.
