Can't be. If it were so, we wouldn't have such a tough time replacing damaged C-series Continental cases. But the mounts may be the same. Such things were pretty standard at one time. Remember, the J3 could be had with either Continental, Lycoming, or Franklin engines interchangably. Very few of the non-Continentals are left, because though each was 65 HP the Continental had the biggest displacement, thus more torque. >it's alot easier to install than the 0235. Pretty funny. I've flown in his Alon, which is a super clean restoration. For what I want, the sliding panels are better, because I always fly open cockpit. That's why I got the 'Coupe. I kind of like the character of the 415 better. The handling is a bit more nimble and light. If I were traveling across the continent though, the Alon would win, hands down! And the Alon has the niftiest small panel ever designed. Again, I like the clear view of the 415, but for navigating, the Alon panel is wonderful. The 85 with rag wing is a >great >plane. So is any ercoupe as far as that gos. The Alon is a litter faster. >You have >90 hp and I think the canopy is less drag. Yes, closed the canopy is a bit cleaner. Open, it is worse than the 415 with the panels slid down. I get a solid 100MPH cruise at 2300 RPM, windows down. Not that I'm in a hurry! We get some righteous thermals out here. i was in one yesteday that had me at 2200 RPM and 115 MPH, and I was still going up at 100FPM! I have no upper speed limitation on open canopy, so I could just put the nose down and ride it. Never did find the corresponding sink. Must have been in the next county. Greg
