It was trendy, in the sixties and seventies, to denigrate the lowly Ercoupe. Most people have gotten over it. Some ignoramuses haven't. Fortunately, we all have the Piper Tomahawk to kick around :-) >Underpowered, For its time, the Ercoupe wasn't underpowered, and in fact the engines got larger along with other contemporary airplanes. Then again, in the 60's and 70's, everybody seemed to want a Bonanza, Mooney, or Comanche, with the biggest engine gettable. > and not a real airplane I guess >because of lack of rudder pedals in most models. Pretty funny. It still has both rudders and ailerons. And a lot of the dopes grousing about this flew airplanes with a rudder/aileron spring interconnect. And on a day with a crosswind, demonstrated they didn't know how to use the rudder pedals they had. >Hard to get parts for, overpriced, etc... Show me another 1940's vintage plane with better parts availability. I'll bet you get parts more easily and more quickly for an Ercoupe than you can for many Pipers, Cessnas, and Beechcraft which were built between 1960 and 1980. And if it comes from Univair, it's a lot more reasonable than from any of the big 3. Greg
