This in response to both of [EMAIL PROTECTED]'s messages. My Mooney Alon N5481F was S.N. B281. Apparently you are right, the N and S.N.'s track. Apparently they just continued the Alon numbers adding a B to distinguish them from the Alon.
The air intakes were on each side. The metal tube extends through the wing root next to the MLG leg, slanting forward. Tubing from this went through the wing root into the plane and up to the main outlet under the side panel. A secondary air outlet using a smaller(1" ?) tubing pulled off this outlet and extended back to a smaller outlet on the upper part of the arm rest. Same on both sides of cabin. The larger outlet was designed to rotate to direct the air. Cliff.....
