I was at OSH from Wed. thru Sun. I agree with Syd Cohen about the weather - beastly until Sun. I always drive, because I do business there, and stay some distance away from OSH at Green Lake, WI where our little clan of annual cigar smokers and brandy drinkers congregates. Attendance was off, about 10% by the early EAA estimates. Who knows whether the weather and the new admission policy contributed how much to the decline. The show was the same as always, which is Mecca itself, except for, in my opinion, a great lack of military participation. Only an F-15 and a Harrier took part in aerial demos. I, for one, along with a couple of people in our group, was bored stiff by the airshows. How many times can you watch a Sukoi or an Extra 300 do loops and snap rolls? We never stayed for a complete airshow any of the 5 days we were there. Maybe next year, for 2000, we'll get a better show - the Concorde is already committed as I understand it. Got to meet a couple of guys on this list, Syd Cohen in particular. Now, for some other news. My partner and I are thinking seriously of selling our D model coupe. We both would like a little more speed, and a tailwheel airplane to play with for awhile. If any of you are interested in a good solid D model, about 280 SMOH, great fabric on the wings, Valcom 760, Mode C txpdr, let me know. We've done two extensive annuals the last 2 years, and the plane is in great shape. Has a dual nose fork, new landing gear donuts, good tires, one reconditioned cylinder this year, some new control cables replaced this year, new side panel glass and a rebuild of the wings in 1992 with zinc chromate throughout the wing structure. Haven't settled on a price yet, but if anyone wants a fine plane, let me know and we'll talk about it. Jerry Eichenberger Columbus, Ohio 614-229-4574 days N2906H
