Did you know:
Canada is strongly considering dropping the spin requirement too.

Statistically....
MORE STUDENTS AND INSTRUCTORS WOULD BE KILLED IN TRAINING THAN AVOIDING IT
!
Not hard to see the political ramifications of this, whether real or
imagined.
IS the FAA a political animal?

Fewer and fewer aircraft are even legally allowed to be spun.
Most aircraft are even prohibited from intentional spins since they are
NOT ENGINEERED to safely exit spins.

No amount of discussion here is likely to change anyone's mind, but I have
been
on both sides of this issue since I soloed in early 1954.

The value of spin training is more academic and psychological than ever.
Passions run high on this issue and apparently always will.

Skidding turns to final approach are the bulk of stall/spin fatalities.
Spin recovery would do little to avoid these LOW ALTITUDE deaths.
Better to teach folks how to AVOID spins and fly (safely) in the first
place.
Apparently, the FAA concurs. <g>
