Ahem.  I'm a "low timer" who is a product of "today's system".

You shouldn't make assumptions based on that.  I trained with stick &
rudder 
kinda guys who made me learn pattern work based on judgement, not just 
memorizing the numbers.  I also REQUESTED spin training, and am adamant on

that point with everyone who asks me about taking flying lessons.

It was the single smartest thing I did in my training.  I only wish I'd
done 
it earlier, and then I wouldn't have been so anxious about stalls.

Not that I think I'm Patty Wagstaff, or anything, but I've yet to hear of 
two students whose training was exactly the same, so you shouldn't assume 
that all of us newbies have never done a spin.
