Hooboy, Merced was crowded in the pattern today. We got there about 11:00 a.m.. I had to do a go-around because the tower thought I was too close to the Stearman in front of me. He didn't realize that I only needed about 300 feet to land. Heh.
We parked right next to the taxiway, near the south end of the runway. I saw a lot of Ercoupes there. They looked pretty sharp. Criminy, it was hot. There were the usual number of display airplanes, maybe more, but about half the usual number of "regular" airplanes. I wonder why? The whole parking area to the north was empty. I remember a few years ago when it was nearly full. Of course, that was when there was an airshow.
