I'm hoping to send in my packet to the FAA soon to request the special waiver for a 3rd class medical with diabetes.
I've now had two HbA1c tests three months apart with numbers at 8.7 or below. This is about 13% from the top of the normal range ( -- 7.8) for the lab which does the test. Next, I think I need the stress EKG. A year has passed since I got my info packet from the EAA. Does anyone know if there's been a change in the type of stress EKG the FAA asks for? I use several oral meds plus insulin at 16 units of 70/30 mornings and 20 units evening so this may not be an easy win. Are any of you AMEs, or physicians or others with knowledge of the process? -- Ed Burkhead Peoria, Ill. N3802H
