Thank you all. >> The 100LL of today has 4 times the amount of lead that the old 80/87 had in the old days. The lead would lubricate the valves. Too much lead can cause valve sticking among other things. Most of our engines still need a small amount of lead to lubricate the valves. Not a lot of lead but a small amount anyway. There have been several things tried to eliminate the need for lead but it doesn't always work out. 1.There are some people who mix 3 gallons of auto fuel with 1 gallon of 100LL. 2.There are some people who run straight unleaded auto fuel. 3. There are some people who run straight 100LL. 4. There are others who mix a small amount (approximately 4 ounces more or less) of Marvel Mystery Oil with each 5 gallons of unleaded auto fuel or 100LL. 5. Some people change to 100LL valves at overhaul but will still have occasional valve sticking problems. 6. Sometimes life is just not fair no matter what you do. kim N3036H NC
