Strange this subject came up. A pilot flying from Hawaii to Monterey, just set one in the ocean. The coast guard said it was a twin engine Navaon. or close to that.
The first report said it ran out of gas some 15 miles short of the Monterey, airport off cypress point. Pictures, taken by the coast guard showed her afoat then nosed over and went down with one wing in a up position. The pilot inflated a raft that was in the plane... he claimed engine trouble... I would guess so if the fuel that runs it was not getting to it due to empty gas tanks. He was delivering the plane to its, new owner. Can not help but wonder if the NTSB. will send divers to see what if any thing but sea water is in the tanks.??? Audean N6596Q
