All non aviation Garmins are speed limited to 108 to encourage you to buy their aviation models instead of opting for the less expensive non data base models. None of the Magellan units are speed limited, I called Magellan and they said that all their units will display speed up to 999 mph. Only slower homebuilts can use the Garmin non aviation units which work just fine but quit at around 108 mph. I know a man who uses a Garmin in his Pietenpol which is an 85 mph airplane.
