I have put Brackett filters on 5 or 6 of my
planes. When removed they are just as solid as when I put them in. I replace
them at each annual as per the instructions. I helped a friend rework a T craft
that had sat in a barn for ten years. When I removed the Brackett filter element
it crumbled in my hands. I think the cause was old age. Replacement elements are
cheap. Search the ads in trade a plane for a good price. Jim Ercoupe
