Couldn't help noticing the message below on a posting. I am restoring a 415C and the glove box doors are missing. Are these available from any where. I haven't noticed them in the Univai catalogue. It would be nice to have the panel back to original. I have the original wheels and panel but the holes where the glove box were was filed with an air driven AH and a radio in the other I think. The AH is being turfed along with the Venturi and I will mount the radio separately. Must save weight!
"Don, the door you are talking about was the glove-box door. There was one on each side of the panel. Most coupes have had them removed to increase panel space for more instruments, but some coupes still have them. I restored my coupe right back to 1946 and put the doors and the actual glove boxes back in. In order to open the doors in flight you would have to pull the yoke back far enough to stall the airplane. If you were to do it at cruise speed you'd probably gain a couple hundred feet in the process before you stalled.
