One problem I found on the Stromberg carb. that causes leaks is that when
the
rubber needle was replaced (service bulletin no.84, that I think later
became
an AD) the person didn't replace the seat. The manual calls for a rounded
seat
for the synthetic needle and a sharp seat for the steel needle. I found
one
last year that still had the rubber tip. It was all swollen up. Replaced
it
with steel needle and correct seat and the drip stopped. On aircraft that
haven't flown for a while, like the T craft we just did, the needle looked
like it had barnacles on it. A good cleaning of the seat and needle
stopped
the drip.
