I recently checked the calibration on my oil temp gauge by
using a heated oil bath and a thermocouple because my temps
are consistently low, even in the summer (180F at 90F
ambient and 70MPH climb). The needle hardly gets off the
100F mark before takeoff under standard conditions.

What I discovered is that the gauge has about a 2-3 minute
time constant but was within 5 degrees between 140-200F. I
have new baffle seals, the proper metal baffling, and no
extraneous holes.
