[courier-users] delivering to shared maildir

I’m trying to setup a shared maildir which postfix can deliver messages to.  This shared maildir can then be accessed to whomever I give permission by logging in to courier-imap with their own login/pw.  Is this possible?   So far I’ve got postfix to deliver to a shared maildir, but it puts messages in the new subdir (as expected).  Apparently courier-imap doesn’t look in the new subdir for shared folders, why is this?   Anyone have any ideas on how I can accomplish this?   Thanks…
