When I use OE or mozilla to do smtp auth without using SSL (from the client) I seem to be able to auth even with crypted passwords in MySQL. However when the client selects SSL in OE then they can't relay with a "... Server Error: 250; Error Number: 0x800CCC7D". kmail works either with or without SSL selected.
