Could be a variety of things including a bad firewall configuration. Can you look at it form the outside? Can you telnet to the port 25 of the mail server?
My understanding of MXE is that it is not REALLY a DNS record at all, but a convention in web interfaces that allows you to configure an MX record by IP address instead of name. What you might want to check (dig / nslookup) is that this process has worked correctly by walking through the resolve process. m/ -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Steve Hultquist Sent: Thursday, July 24, 2003 1:47 PM To: 'Bintu Ateer'; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [courier-users] Can send but cannot recieve any mail It is ESMTP. Have you looked at the inbound permissions for ESMTP? Have you used WebAdmin? You might want to use WebAdmin to tweak the permissions--it may be easier for you to understand than the configuration files. I have installed RedHat9, Apache 2, and the latest version of Courier. After two installs it seemed I had gotten it right. Everything seems to be running and I got no errors duing install. I ran all the tests and they worked really well too. I started webmail and send out many email. I can send mails from one local user on the box to another local user. The inboxes show the mail and everything looks great. BUT I can't recieve any mail from the outside. I have forwarded all pots below 200 to this machine from my router. I have created an MXE record with my domain registrar which points to my ip. (I couldn't figure out the MX record layout, or if I did it still did not work) I am using the PAM authentication method and I believe I have eveything there but not sure. I have not installed MySql yet, is that necessary? What portion of this is responsible for recieving outside mail? I thought it was esmtp, but like I said i don't really understand all this very well. Please reply as I am wasting tooooooo much time trying to figure it out. If you need to see any of my config files please let me know. thanks again tan _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now.
