Hi All, I echo Jerome's comments. We explored the idea of day passes, but found that potential coworkers worked at most in 4 hour blocks of time. If a coworker used 2 hours one day, they didn't think it was fair to count that day against them.
After studying several non-coworking hourly-based businesses, we created a different approach. We decided to launch with two options: a "pay as you go" model (i.e. a higher hourly rate) and a "monthly by the hour" model (i.e. a lower hourly rate). By utilizing an active RFID system to track usage -- coworkers don't have to check in or check out, they simply use the space. Our web-based billing system is completely automated and simply charges coworkers once per month via their credit card. To address the real estate transaction issue, we are giving our "pay as you go" coworkers two hours per month in our space for free. These free hours allow people to test-drive our space without a commitment while still participating in the community.
