Congratulations Rachel! I'm in space catalyst mode myself. First meeting with interested parties on Friday. Still a long way off but I've been lurking on this list for awhile.
I got very involved with a great space in Mountain View for awhile (Hacker Dojo). Wonderful space and people but I don't quite "fit" with the group that frequents the place. I'm a single mom to six kids (13-25yo) and really looking for a family environment. I'm starting my own space with a couple friends and it'll be geared towards families - primarily online retail businesses - we'll have storage and shipping capabilities as well as the usual open space. We have quite a few moms and dads in the area that have inventory that have outgrown their homes but they aren't quite ready to jump into a full production facility of their own. We will also be very family centric (vs singles). I'm in the Bay Area and plan on starting small and building from there. I'm still trying to come up with a name for the space that is professional enough for members to meet with clients but friendly enough for families. It's exciting to hear about your opening, Rachel. I will be more verbal on the list in the coming weeks.
