This means that the test script "test1.sh" doesn't return success (0) for the
initial input, "small.c".  You should be able to look at some of the generated
output files and find a more helpful error message.

(My guess is that you don't have `clang' in your path, but I could easily be
wrong about that.)

These messages appear from time to time, and can be ignored.
