In my work, I need to be able to post to a number of mailing lists. Many of them have a policy about "pure ASCII" - that is, no use of Rich Text Format (RTF) mail. Some mail reflectors don't support it, and some mail clients can't display it. As a result, the beautiful document you created with the dogs trotting back and forth on the bottom of the screen may look like garbage to the recipient. If your mail allows you to set colors, fonts, etc, you are probably using RTF. To set MS Lookout! to use vanilla ASCII, I set Tools/Options/Mail Format/Message Format to use plain text all the time. Your mileage may vary, and sometimes setting such a value in LookOut or Eudora doesn't shut off RTF (it sometimes sends RTF saying "use courier") but it is usually a step in the right direction. - jeff parker
