If they could limit the servers to being completely vanilla then it would be
worth it. And I think the tickrate would have to be decided on, matchmaking
right now is pretty consistent. If you look at ESEA they've done the same thing
with their servers, nobody is jumping back and forth between higher/lower
tickrates.

My point is not that it would be simple. My point is that it would be worth
it.

But you have to look at it from their standpoint as well, it's not just as
simple as allowing people to host.

If they allowed anyone to host matchmaking servers, you would have admins
cheating via sourcemod. (eg.
http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=195037)Then you have to take into
consideration the low quality servers.

Also, I don't think people would enjoy switching between 128/66/64 tickrate
matchmaking servers, which would create inconsistencies.

      It's not possible.

Pinion is like valve's official subcontractor who runs official valve
servers.

Valve could satisfy A LOT of people by allowing community members to host
official servers. Then we could have 128 tick matchmaking without valve having
to pay for it, and communities could advertise slightly with an unobtrusive
motd.

I play very often over the matchmaking system and asking me,

if normal Admins can host a vanilla server as an official for
matchmaking?

        Is this possible?

My second question is, why do one server has advertisement from pinion
in his motd?
