This morning I have spent about 30 minutes testing this issue on the beta
version of the Steam client and so far I haven't experienced one crash. I
am testing on 6 accounts simultaneously. One launched regularly and the
others through sandboxie. They are all utilizing the same Steam
installation. Prior to upgrading to the beta version, I was experiencing
the MOTD crash almost immediately with the most recent update of the Steam
client. I have tested it with the 3 major ad carriers (vpp, motdgd, pinion)
and they have all been fully responsive the entire time as where they would
freeze/crash before. Also tested on YouTube and a couple other dynamic
pages with no trouble yet.

I know this doesn't necessarily help at the moment because if every client
doesn't upgrade to the beta version of Steam, they will still have the
problem. But maybe it can help Valve step in the right direction to get the
beta version pushed live. If some of you guys could test this theory as
well, I'm sure it'd help.
