I see you guys have valid concerns, let me address them one by one.

Few Doubts :

MSDN academic alliance was initiated in year 2006. It was exclusive to COE
and IT only. Prof MPS Bhatia approached CSI - NSIT for its successful
execution. Therefore, MSDNAA accounts were created for all IT and COE
students of 06 batch. Bhatia Sir then transferred the MSDNAA to CSI-NSIT.
The usage by IT&COE batch of 06 was very low(10-15), but largely, the
transfer was due to the fact that CSI-NSIT was already managing the
partnership unofficially. This transfer allowed for formal control of MSDNAA
and also brought MSDNAA access to all NSITians, by virtue of being CSI
members. Formal control means taking full control of the server, the
alliance and being responsible if any mishap happens. The latter part was
necessary for faculty to allow us access.

This particular drive was started so that every NSITian has a chance to get
MSDNAA access without paying for full CSI membership. I think everyone
benefits here. MSDNAA was previously meant only for IT and COE students.

3.) I guess CSI promoted Open Source. I hope you understand that any free

CSI - NSIT yahoo user group mirrors open source philosophy. We welcome
freedom of thought and expression, it ensures transparency. However, freedom
of thought is not freedom from thinking, so please insure that mails, if
written, are sincere and polite, with some thought process and logic behind
the expressed opinion.

And Deepank Sir. I fail to understand how is this spam. CSI - NSIT used this
medium to communicate information which we believe would help others in
getting access to better computing experience.
CSI - NSIT is a not a commercial entity. The said promotions are generally
for the benefit for NSITians. I know that being a MS employee, MSDNAA access
is something very frugal to you, but for many, its the 1st time they will be
running a legal version of Windows. Which both you and I know, is totally
different experience.
