This just came up today on a forum I visit, question was in regards to using a container/wrapper when doing your designs, if so, what would the reasons be, if not why not, is this just for certain layouts, fixed and fluid, just fixed, just floats etc..
One answer was that inexperienced CSS'ers tend to over use divs. Personally, though I am only learning, I find that a container div makes it easier to work out the layout. I would really appreciate any responses to this, and any links that might be of help in any way.
