Howdy-
I've tried everything I can find and exhausted my own thimble of
ideas so I'm hoping someone here can help me with this vexing problem.

I'm working on the left-hand navigation menu found at:

http://www.yogamacro.com/staging/adv_studies/nadv_studies.htm

I'm using one of the image replacement techniques to turn a run of
the mill unordered list into a menu with a rollover effect. The CSS
rollover effect works fine on all of the browsers I have thrown at it
(Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, Safari) but not on IE6. The HTML and the
CSS both validate fine.

In IE6, an item appears to change to the hovered background picture
just fine, but at that point the background will often stick in that
state rather than resetting back to its pre-hover background. If you
quickly move the pointer around the menu or other parts of the page,
sometimes the background resets itself, sometimes it doesn't. The end
result is it looks like the menu gets stuck.

This sounds very similar to the bug Ingo Chao reported here: http://
www.quirksmode.org/bugreports/archives/2005/08/
backgrond_image_gets_stuck_on_hover.html, but I can't seem to get the
suggested workaround at http://www.satzansatz.de/cssd/
pseudocss.html#hoverstuck to work for me.

Any suggestions for how to coerce or trick IE6 into playing nice
would be gratefully appreciated.
