As for #1, my biggest client has a graphic artist that uses IE5 on the Mac -
ignoring the problem will just make my client upset. So I went to my server
logs to see if I have backing to say, IE5 on the Mac is not worth
supporting. And dang it, there were a number of Mac-IE5 users in the Apache
logs, hitting the site from all over the US (from Hawaii to New Hampshire).
I want to say, "What are you doing?" using a Microsoft product on a Mac.
Those annoying users! ;)

I am going to try and turn off the fixed positioning for IE5 so at least the
IE5 users can use the site. Will let you guys know if it works...

A couple of thoughts.....

IE for Mac has been discontinued and is no longer available for
download on the MS site. So, one school of thought would be to ignore
the problem.

Another would be, depending on your programming language, to put a
switch in there that detects IE Mac and then displays the height:
400px only for IE Mac users.
