then use <i>.</i> in the text. Not brilliant, certainly not semantic,
but it seems to work. I wanted to avoid a long 'span' and use a simple
(short) tag.
I doubt that anyone can spot an italicised period. . :-) !
Anyone any good (better) suggestions?
