David, Rafael, First, apologies if this question was off topic. I thought it fell under the umbrella of "ways of delivering different style to Internet Explorer 6", which gets discussed a lot here.
But in any case, it seems that the cost in difficulty of delivering Explorer specific style and content outweigh the savings in bandwidth. Thank you for your responses.
