Because Google Websites (http://sites.google.com) does not allow editing of 
headers to introduce external style sheets or header styles.  That is the 
problem.  It is a free site and there are no Ads so ideal for students. 
Uploading of files is also not allowed.

OK I have done this and it more or less works.

<span style="color:#ff0000; font-size:xx-large; 
margin-right: -6px;">Y</span>ou can use the :first-letter pseudo-element to 
add a special effect to the first character of a text! </p>

I needed to put in a negative margin because the gap between Y and "o" was 
relatively large.

Thanks for the help and if there is another way to do the same thing please 
let me know.
