Someone asked off-list about this - originally, the box-shadow property caused 
some confusion about the (visual) overflow it triggers. Later iterations of the 
spec then noted:
[quote]Shadows do not trigger scrolling or increase the size of the scrollable 
area.[/quote]

Newer implementations have this correct.

and apparently, Safari 4.1 (os X 10.4) and 5 have this already correct - memory 
failure on my side…
