Yup, it's always sad when something usefull is written in Eclipse, sigh. (Dodges the Eclipse flamers). Good luck there, I've also seen a couple of nice Java-bases DXF viewers on the internet, which might also help you a little bit. They are often 3D-based, with simple vector graphics, pretty much just XYZ.
