Conference stipends
The original postmark deadline for applications for PLD
stipends to attend the 2003 TLA Conference in Houston was December 16, 2002. That
date has been extended to January 4, 2003.
The Public Libraries Division is prepared to award 4 $400
stipends to first-time attendees to the TLA Conference who are currently
employed in public libraries and who do not hold a Master's Degree in Library
Science or its equivalent. Recipients must agree to volunteer 4 hours at
the conference and to submit a written report concerning their conference
experience within 30 days of their return. This is too good an
opportunity to pass up!
Please encourage staff members in your systems to
apply. While the postmark deadline is the 4th of January, the application
form also requires a letter of reference. The letter can take some time
to obtain, and people tend to have extra obligations this time of year.
I am attaching the application form to this message so that
you can provide application forms to your system members. I can also
mail, e-mail or fax forms to potential applicants.

at the following address: www.txla.org/groups/pld/html/PLDapplication.rtf
(When I tried to access the application this way, a window popped up asking for
a user name and password. Just close the window and you can proceed without
having to provide those).
