A Major Census Announcement

The name index (and images) for the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, plus the
images for the 1850 and 1880 Federal Censuses are now available in
HeritageQuest Online!

The online availability of the 1910 Census Index is a major event for
the
world's library community. Created by the HeritageQuest SBU, this
unique
and invaluable genealogical data can only be found on HQO. (It is also
being made available to the consumer market via our partnership with A&E
Television Network and Genealogy.com.) Millions of families and
individuals
throughout the world immigrated to the United States during the early
1900s.
The 1910 Census often offers the very first glimpse of these families,
complete with their ages, birthplace and race.

The 1850 and 1880 images are available by browsing by location only (not
searching by name). When you click "Search Census," you need to click
the
"Browse" button on the toolbar to view 1850 and 1880 since they are not
yet
searchable by name. These series will be in the selection box with the
other
decades available. Now you can browse every image from every state of
1850
and 1880 in HQO.

Additional Census decades and indexes/images are added to HeritageQuest
Online on a regular basis. The 1920 Census images are scheduled to be
released in late December.
