Friends -

I am sad to report that Rose Trevino passed away on April 30. Rose taught the
Mother Goose <http://www.mothergooseprograms.org/math_science.php> workshop on
preschool science concepts for CTLS a few years ago, and one about Para los
niƱos / For the Children <http://www.cmhouston.org/losninos/> , a library &
museum project serving Spanish-speaking families. She was a gracious, lovely
person and an active, well-respected librarian.

Rose will be missed.

Yesterday Oralia Garza de Cortes reported the death of Rose V. Trevino on April
30. Rose was the recipient of the Siddie Jo Johnson Award and served on many
TLA committees. She chaired the 2009 Newbery Award committee and the Pura
Belpre Award committee. Rose was very active in the celebration of El Dia de
los Ninos/El Dia de los Libros and fittingly passed away on the day designated
to celebrate and recognize a day for books and children. In addition to having
been the children's coordinator for San Antonio Public Library, most recently
Rose served in that capacity for Houston Public Library.
