Resumes are to get the job interview. Come to a Texas State Library sponsored webinar to learn tips to get resumes updated for print and online submissions, key components of the resume and learn if cover letters are still necessary. Learn the difference between a chronological and functional resume and when to use each type. Also covered will be common questions job seekers have for their resumes and where to find more resources to assist them. Carolyn Davidson Brewer is the Assistant Director of the North Texas Library Partners, home of the North Texas Regional Library System. She has been a librarian for over 12 years and has also worked as a social worker assisting with Texas Workforce Solutions/TWC. In preparation for these classes, Carolyn interviewed over 10 HR departments and managers for ideas and tips. She is currently offering this class and others through Texas Workskills Development for Libraries in the north Texas area. The Texas Workskills Development in Libraries project, better known as TWDL (pronounced 'Twiddle'), was created to help Texas residents obtain information and learn better ways to look for a job as well providing ways to improve their job skills. The project supports Texas library staff, management and volunteers in gathering 21st Century job training resources that can be easily accessed and offered to all Texans.
