-Caveat Lector- Subj: Daschle Puts Nearly 300 CRS Reports on Internet Date: 99-02-02 15:00:22 EST From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Gary Ruskin) Sender: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Multiple recipients of list CONG-REFORM) Congressional Reform Briefings February 2, 1999 To subscribe to Congressional Reform Briefings send the message: subscribe CONG-REFORM your name to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Good news: Senator Tom Daschle (D-SD) has placed almost 300 Congressional Research Service (CRS) Reports on the Internet at http://www.senate.gov/~dpc/crs/index.html. Take a look at them. Citizens, scholars, journalists, librarians, businesses, and many others have long wanted access to CRS reports via the Internet. Senator Daschle's Internet collection of CRS reports represents only about 1/10th of the current library of CRS reports. But it is a good first step toward providing the public with easy access to CRS Reports. On June 10, 1998 the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration advised Senators that "With the rapidly expanding use of the Internet, we believe it is appropriate for Members and Committees to use their web sites to further disseminate CRS products....we encourage you to post CRS products on your web site." Apparently Sen. Daschle did exactly that -- and he deserves our thanks. You might send him an e-mail at <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> to: 1. Thank him for placing the CRS reports on the Internet; and, 2. Ask him to put all CRS reports and products on his web site. For a sense of the richness of the full collection of CRS Reports, see the Pennyhill Press site, http://pennyhill.com/, which sells CRS Reports, and claims to have nearly all abstracts of all CRS Reports. The Congressional Accountability Project is a Congressional watchdog group affiliated with Ralph Nader.
