I don't know of an environment without human waste present.  As for the use of
human waste in Japanese agriculture, the honey buckets that the farmers
carried to their fields were definitely human waste.  It was also used in
North Italy about 30 years ago.  In Italy I could scarcely abide the stench.
In Japan some years back (I don't know about today), the farmers went with the
honey carts about four in the morning to gather human waste to put onto the
fields.  It smelled pretty bad also.  Prudy
