Hello,
Perhaps my great granfather Joel Parrish knew Jefferson Davis since he
was an officer in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. My
Granfather George Sumpter Parrish passed away last September at the age
of 97. I never got the chance to talk much to him about his father while
he was still alive. It would have perhaps answered some of the questions
concerning the reasons for the Civil War which by the way had little to
with the issue of slavery. The Civil War was primarily fought over the
issue of Northerners trying to take over and control Southern Business
by way of excessive tariffs and mafia still payments to northern
business's for goods produced by the south. The South was very
prosperous during and prior to the Civil War. Anyone who lives in the
south or has traveled there can attest to this by the Architectural
structures that still stand in lot of places to this very day. One last
item and I will stop for now. There is an exact replica of the Parthenon
located in Nashville, Tennessee that contains items taken from the
original Parthenon in Greece. It also contains inside a Statue built out
of the guide there says Gypsum but I know better. It is built entirely
out of Lithothane which is made from processed coral. This statue alone
is worth an immense fortune. The last time I priced Lithothane it was
$8,000 to $10,000 for a 8 inch sguare piece. So you see there are things
far more valuable than gold located in plain sight in the South.
