Was just reading something in a 60 year old book when your letter came
up:

"Truce of God, in the Middle Ages private warfare was very common and he
Church synods in order to limit what they could not wholly repress, in
the 11th century and later, frequently passed decrees that there should
be no such warfare during certain holy seasons, from Advent to Epiphany,
and from Septuagesima to the week after Pentacost. In addition the time
from Wednesday night to Monday morning of each week and all saint;s day
were included."

Now this was the 11th century and this was what they called "private
warfare", to which I can only reply "what the hell does this all mean".

Most people couldn't even read in the 11th century, unless you went to
the Universities.....but the end result, when the masses arise, there is
no suppressing them.....
