I do.

But I must admit, it's a relatively recent discovery...made a few years
ago, when I was researching another matter.

Not only was I surprised that he was THE colonial hero of the early
Revolutionary War, I was also surprised to discover that he was a native
son, born and raised here in Connecticut....something that was definitely
NOT taught to us in school...

No, the real story is extremely involved and convoluted...and based on
the research I've already done, I suspect that there's a lot more to
Arnold's supposed defection than meets the eye...and Peggy Arnold did NOT
have 'British connections', or no more so than the majority of colonials,
certainly no more than, say, Ben Franklin's son William...

(Whom I mention, since there is a connection between the Franklins and
the Arnolds...and I have suspicions regarding William Franklin's supposed
adherence to the Crown, too...)

It is true that before her marriage to Arnold, Peggy's family entertained
the British troops who were then stationed in Philadelphia...including
John Andre, whom Arnold was later to supposedly promise West Point to...
Andre, who was supposedly captured and hung as a traitor, thereby
exposing 'the plot'...but I suspect Andre was more than he seemed, and
there's evidence that there was more than one 'Andre', and THE Andre was
not the one captured and executed...

Benedict Arnold seemed to enjoy a particularly cozy relationship with
George Washington, whose actions were very strange, to say the least, the
morning the supposed treason plot was uncovered...

Talk about conspiracies! There is intriguing evidence that this was one
of the biggest, and is NOT what is taught in traditional history books!

Very likely so...but not for the reasons you delineate.

What little I've been able to uncover, Arnold just MAY be one of our
major patriots, someone who was willing to have his name besmearched in
the history books, for the sake of furthering the cause he was so furvent
about....
