-Caveat Lector- The May 3, l999 issue of "The Nation" has a very interesting article. The title is as the subject of this posting and is on pages 3 and 4. One really fascinating paragraph says in part, "This must have discomfited hard-liners in the Pentagon, who have been provoking trouble over Korea policy for months, seeking to kill two birds with one stone--to destroy the l994 agreement and thereby stick another knife in the President. The leading malefactor is Gen. Patrick Hughes, the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, who likes to leak classified information to right-wing Republicans. . . . It goes on from there. No wonder the Pentagon was so nice to Linda Tripp--flex time, great job, very high pay. She obviously has more friends in high places than we realized. Maybe the Pentagon is doing its own thing.
